“And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak.”
II Corinthians 4:13

Statement of Faith

We believe in the historic Christian faith, as expressed in the ancient creeds of the Church, including the Nicene Creed:

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth and of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.
Through Him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven.
By the power of the Holy Spirit He became incarnate from the virgin Mary
and was made man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
He suffered death, and was buried.
On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son He is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy, universal and apostolic church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Foundational Truths

upon which the vision and mission of Through the Gates Ministries is built:

We believe
that God intends the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ
to represent Him in His character and power in the earth.

“As the Father has sent me, I also send you.”
John 20:21

We believe
that God desires for every local church to be a place
where people experience His presence whenever the congregation assembles.

“How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”
Genesis 28:17

We believe
that it is especially in an atmosphere of true worship
– of passionate, uninhibited, wholehearted adoration, thanksgiving and praise –
that His presence is most powerfully manifested.

“It came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound heard in praising and thanking the Lord ... that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering ... for the glory of the Lord filled
the house of God.”

II Chronicles 5:13 - 14

We believe
that it is through heart-to-heart encounter with His presence
that believers are transformed into the likeness of Christ by the Holy Spirit,
thus enabling them to fulfill their calling to represent Him
.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
II Corinthians 3:18
